　Chiahsien is famous for taro. The villagers do make good use of it and produce various products. In the town's streets, stores sell all kinds of taro products, such as taro cake, taro biscuits and taro mash. Visitors are always tempted to try these products and bring some home to share with their friends and relatives.

　The taro grown in Chiahsien is betel nut-heart taro. The advantages of this variety include a fine, starchy texture, and a strong flavor. Taro sorbet and taro biscuit are what visitors to Chiahsien will never miss. Recently, many food stands show up on the streets, selling taro cake. They are very popular with visitors. All special products in Chiahsien are made from taro. Chiahsien is true to its name: a place of taro.

　　甲仙盛產芋頭，鄉民靠著芋仔開發出一系列特產，站在甲仙的大街小巷，隨處可見芋仔冰城、芋酥餅、芋粿、芋泥、芋仔麻糬招牌林立，芋香四溢，路過的遊客很難擋得住誘惑。

　　甲仙的紅檳榔心芋個頭大、質地鬆脆，因此被做成各種加工品，芋仔餅和芋仔冰是每位遊客必先品嚐的兩樣特產，而且還會多帶幾盒回去與親朋好友分享，近年來，甲仙街頭如雨後春筍般出現的芋粿攤販，生意也門庭若市，不比芋仔冰城遜色，甲仙特產全部是芋頭農產製品，堪稱是名副其實的芋香之地。
