KCC Celebrates 55th Anniversary/議會成立五十五週年

　Headed by Mayor Hsieh, city government staff visited Kaohsiung City Council(KCC)and paid tribute to former and incumbent speakers and councilors for their efforts in pushing for the prosperity of the City. During the visit, Hsieh pledged to respect views and expectations of citizens and work to make the city known internationally.

　According to Speaker Huang, the city council had evolved through four stages under the jurisdiction of different levels of authorities. However, it has always assumed the role as the city's supreme body of public voice. It exercises political rights on behalf of all city citizens, and serves to oversee the governance of city government. For the last 55 years, all the councilors had strived to help promote the city's development. Thanks to their painstaking efforts, Kaohsiung has transformed from a small fishing village into an international harbor city of 1.5 million inhabitants. The entirety of the watchdog body takes great pride in the spirit of "rational politics," which has been passed down as the prime virtue of the council. Huang hopes incumbent councilors can lead Kaohsiung's march into the future with a broad mind and vision.

　Hsieh also extended his appreciation to the council for the passing of many proposals, which facilitates the implementation of major construction projects, such as the KMRT and domed stadium. The KCG has put forward bills on the establishment of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the Communication Bureau and the Domestic Violence Center and looks forward to an early passage.

　　高雄市議會慶祝成立55週年，謝市長親率市府團隊致意，他感謝歷屆議長、議員努力推動高雄市的進步，他承諾尊重大家的意見與期待，努力推展市政工作，讓高雄市走向國際舞台。

　　黃議長表示，高雄市議會歷經四階段－參議會、省轄市議會、臨時市議會、直轄市議會，不管名稱如何改變，高雄市議會都是本市最高的民意機構，代表全體市民行使政權，監督、制衡行使治權的市政府，55年來，歷任議員都是堅守崗位、努力打拼，協助市政的推展與進步，讓高雄市從一個小漁村走向目前150萬人口的國際港灣都市；而議員理性問政就是過去沿襲下來的優良傳統，最值得高雄市議會所有成員感到安慰與自豪，他期盼現任議員秉持開闊心胸與遠見，引領高雄市的未來。

　　謝市長感謝議會這兩年來通過很多市府提案，讓市政工作順利推動，如捷運、巨蛋等重大建設得以順利推展，目前市府還提出文化局、交通局、家暴中心等法案，希望能在短時間內獲得議會支持與通過。
